Upon registration we will need a copy of the following things: Birth Certificate, Current Immunization, Social Security Card and Medical Statement for children under 30 months.
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of Lighthouse Christian Academy Preschool is to lovingly equip each child regardless of race, color, national, and ethnic origin to reach his highest potential in a Christian learning environment while caring for the daily needs of the child.
PRESCHOOL PHILOSOPHY & GOALS
Lighthouse Christian Academy Preschool is one of the many ministries of Lighthouse Fellowship Assembly of God Church located in Millington, TN. We believe it is a sacred responsibility to help modern-day parents raise their children to be well-adjusted, happy Christian youth and adults. We recognize that half of what our children know as adults, they will learn before they reach the age of five. Therefore, what we teach them will affect them will affect them the rest of their lives. From the first day a child walks into our preschool/daycare, we want him/her to feel safe and secure in an atmosphere of other well-adjusted children. Christian workers and teachers who are confident in their preparation and abilities to minister to their classes will be keenly aware of any problems of the children for whom they are responsible. Scriptural content will be taught along with phonics, mathematics, art, science, and other educational concepts. We believe teaching children how to get along with one another at early age will cause them to follow that pattern the rest of their lives. High moral and educational standards will make a better society for each of us. Thus, a positive presentation of the gospel appropriate for young children is expected from our staff by examples of love, faith and devotion to God. Communication for the Christian faith and the message of the Bible in ways that the young child can understand and accept without teaching denominational doctrine is one or our goals.
Loving, consistent discipline in a calm, clean atmosphere with Christian personnel will create a peaceful, harmonious, secure feeling in each child. At the same time, the learning atmosphere will be such that each child’s learning capabilities could reach its maximum. Upon entering the public or private Kindergarten, our students will be better prepared for the classroom setting and curriculum.
OUR LIFE VERSE
“For ye were sometimes darkness, but now ye are light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.” Ephesians 5:8-10
PARENT’S OBLIGATION TO L.C.P.
By virtue of having your child in Lighthouse, you do have an obligation.
You should PRAY for Lighthouse because only as God blesses our teamwork will the children receive maximum benefit and blessing.
You should also PAY for Lighthouse. As parents, it is your responsibility to keep the school tuition payments up-to-date. Tuition arrangements are made in the financial office at time of registration.
You should PARTICIPATE in all rules taken to protect your children.
PROGRAM / CURRICULUM
Lighthouse has classes from 8:00 to 11:30 a.m. We teach ABEKA curriculum which includes phonics, letters, numbers, and art. A Bible time is spent each day with Bible stories, songs and verses. It is not the intent of Lighthouse staff or curriculum to teach “doctrine “of any particular denomination to the children. Biblical content broadly accepted by most evangelical churches is used as a foundation for developing basic moral character.
The afternoon schedule is a more relaxed educational experience for the children. Various educational activities are planned with the appropriate age of development in mind.
OBEDIENCE
Every attempt is made to maintain Christian discipline at all times. Teachers make every effort to treat all children fairly. On the other hand, it must be understood by children and parents alike that the child owes implicit obedience to their teachers and caregivers in the classroom. Parents are encouraged to discuss matters with their child’s teacher by scheduling an appointment with the teacher at a time convenient for both. Parents are also encouraged to contact the office to speak with the Director or Assistant Director if necessary.
TODDLERS 2's & 3's: Training Information
Before enrollment each toddler must have a physical examination within the last three months and the form signed by the attending physician. All shots MUST be up to date.
Activities will prove experience for the development of language, gross motor, fine motor, social personal, cognitive, and self help skills. Children will be sang to, talked to, listened to, and read to which will enhance communication skills and language development. Additional language experience activities will consist of finger plays, patty cake and flannel board stories. Alphabet, colors, numbers and the days of the week will be presented daily.
A record of each child’s activities, including time and amount of feeding, elimination, times of diaper changes, sleep patterns and developmental progress will be posted. Information will be available to the parent daily.
RE: Baby food and bottles/sippy cups
All food will be furnished by the parent. No opened containers will be accepted, nor severed the second time. Drinks brought in sippy cups at arrival to the preschool will be poured out after the A.M. snack. Any cup or bottle must be permanently labeled with the child’s name on both the cup and the lid. We will be encouraging the children to drink out of our small plastic cups, therefore the parents do not need to bring sippy cups. All open containers must be taken home at the end of the day or they will be discarded. Bottles will not be reheated or returned to the refrigerator, so please prepare the bottle in the amount the child will consume at one feeding. Formula will be served at body temperature. Children will not be allowed to carry a bottle throughout the day. No solid foods in bottles, (inc. cereal). Heating of food will only be available in the youngest class rooms 102A & 102B. Please heat at home and place in a wide-mouth insulated container. Any specific feeding instructions must be in writing to the office and teacher.
Room 102A will not be potty training. Room 102B, 104A & B will be potty training. Diapers/Pull-ups are to be furnished by the parent, all must be disposable. If a child does not have diapers available, Lighthouse Christian Preschool will furnish at a cost to the parent of $1.50 each or parent must replace the amount used. Bibs, spoons, and non tip cups will be furnished by Lighthouse Christian Preschool. 2% milk will be available to all children that are present at lunch time. Two snacks will be served daily. These are between 8:00-8:30 and 2:30-3:00. Additional snack treats will be given as needed, determined by the teacher. If you prefer to furnish specific snacks due to your child’s allergies, you may do so. Be sure these are labeled and available daily.
If a child demands a pacifier, it must be on a ribbon and around the neck of the child.
The following applies to Rooms 102B, 104A & B only:
Weaning nor potty training will be started at Lighthouse Christian Preschool until the parent has notified the day care that parents have initiated weaning or potty training at home for a minimum two weeks. If the child has already started potty training, we will continue. Parents must provide adequate quantities of underwear for training. The time for weaning and potty training will be determined by the parent. We do not ask cooperation of parents not to place child back in diapers if potty training at the center. Once potty trained, children will be moved the next classroom level as positions become available. Positions are limited because full enrollment is usually maintained at the center.
